Memory Object: My Mona Lisa
2024

Canvas, pigment print, 3 × 2 × 1 mm

When I visited the Louvre, I could see the Mona Lisa only from afar because of the crowds of tourists gathered around it. What stayed with me was not only the painting itself, but also the experience of trying to see it among so many people.

When I trace that moment in my memory, the Mona Lisa appears as a tiny image, almost too small to recognize. Perhaps what I knew was not the original painting itself, but the Mona Lisa as an image already familiar through photography.

This work is an attempt to draw out, through photography, the Mona Lisa that exists in my own memory. Through this act, I try to create a quiet Louvre Museum of my own.
