20世紀初頭から現代に至る美術の歴史と展開を中心に、現代アートを形づくってきた思想や表現、その社会的・文化的背景について学ぶ。美術史における主要な芸術運動や概念、作家の実践を手がかりに、それぞれの時代や文化のなかで芸術が何を問い、どのような問題に向き合ってきたのかを比較・検討する。多様な芸術表現を歴史的・文化的な文脈から読み解き、現代アートを作品や様式だけでなく、社会や人間のあり方について考えるための実践として捉える視点を養う。

Comparative Art Studies / Comparative Cultural Studies (Art)

This course examines the historical development of art from the early twentieth century to the present, focusing on the ideas, artistic practices, and social and cultural contexts that have shaped contemporary art. Through the study of major artistic movements, concepts, and artists, students compare and investigate the questions and issues that art has addressed across different historical and cultural contexts. By interpreting artistic expression within these broader contexts, students develop an understanding of contemporary art not merely as a collection of works or styles, but also as a way of thinking about society and the human condition.
